Filipina OFW receives house and lot from UAE employer

  • A Filipina OFW received a house and lot from her UAE employer.
  • Her employer also promised to fund the construction of her dream house.
  • She started working in her employer's household in 1998.

A Filipina OFW (overseas Filipino worker) received Dh 23,000 (around PHP 315,000) from her employer in Abu-Dhabi. According to The Filipino Times, Dina Tenerife Celo wanted to buy a piece of land in her hometown in Camarines Sur. Her employer Melissa McPike then promised to fund the construction of her dream home and even told her that she would be her first visitor once the house is done.

She declared the property under her 21-year-old unico hijo, Ryan. She is also slated to return to the Philippines on January 18 with Melissa’s son Saeed.

Celo started working as an OFW in 1994, but her hopes seemed to have gone downhill. She, however, did not reveal further details about it. She then landed a job at Melissa’s home as a house helper in 1998. She was tasked to take care of her employer’s two sons, Saif and Saeed.

Her contract with the household eventually expired and she then worked as a waitress and a cashier. Nonetheless, she still kept in touch with her previous employer.

Celo recalled that she went back to the Philippines. But just when she was about to settle in her homeland, Melissa contacted her again. She narrated:

“Marami rin akong mga naging ibang trabaho. Kaso dumating ‘yung time na nagkasakit ako.

The Filipina OFW then expressed her gratitude not just to Melissa but to her sons as well for their kindness and generosity.
