More and more Filipinos are getting caught up in the Korean pop culture craze – as plenty of Korean dramas are being dubbed and even adapted in the Philippines. Anne Curtis is a self-professed fan, who recently joined the bandwagon after falling in love with the series “Goblin” and its leading man Gong Yoo.
The “It’s Showtime” host is in full fangirl mode when it comes to the Korean actor. In fact, when she finally had the chance to visit South Korea with her now-husband Erwan Heussaff last year, Anne popped in on some of the famous spots highlighted in her favorite K-drama. The couple even did a photo shoot reenacting the show’s Kim Shin and Ji Eun-Tak on Nami Island.
Prior to this, Anne was lucky enough to personally see Gong Yoo when the latter flew to Hong Kong for a press conference. While she didn’t get to meet and take a photo with the Korean idol like Kim Atienza had, the Kapamilya actress was still elated upon catching sight of her celeb crush. Along with the exclusive media pass that she put up on her Instagram were the words:
“Hindi man ako naka pag selfie or interview like Kuya Kim.. He got me this naman as a souvenir and made me saling pusa sa presscon [sic] Kamsahamnida #GongYoo”
It’s no question that the celebrity is obsessed with the Korean star. And when rumors of Gong Yoo tying the knot with co-actress Jung-Yu Mi broke out on social media, you best believe that Anne was quick to react to the news. The “Bakit Lahat ng Gwapo may Boyfriend?” lead took to Twitter her thoughts, which reads:
“Yung Tsismis. Yung heart ko. Pero kung sa kali, ok Lang. I want him to be happily married like me too. It’s a tie kami. Pero shucks ha. May kurot pa rin sa fan girl heart ko”
Fortunately for Anne and the rest of the Gong Yoo fangirls, they can take a breather now as Soop Entertainment, the managing agency of the Korean actors, confirmed that the news was nothing but fiction.
“We are releasing a statement regarding the rumor that’s spreading on social media and various online community sites right now. The rumors about Gong Yoo and Jung Yoo Mi are totally false. From here on out, we will be taking firm legal action against rumors and malicious comments.”
Phew, that was close! Nevertheless, could a fangirl Anne Curtis be any cuter?
