The public was recently alarmed by the reported kidnapping of a college student in Cebu. According to a prior report of the Inquirer.net, the female victim was said to be waiting for a jeepney around 5 o’clock a.m. along N. Bacalso Avenue. According to Cebu City Police Director Joel Doria, she was on her way home to Barangay Buhisan from her night shift duty when she was forced by the suspects to enter a black van. The police officers immediately went on the lookout for this black van which was reported to have carried five men, three of whom are said to be foreigners, for abducting the victim yesterday morning, January 8, 2018. Various Facebook pages also spread the shocking news.
The alarmed relatives of the victim immediately went to the Carbon Police Station to report her alleged abduction after reportedly receiving a Facebook message from the victim’s profile, saying that she has been kidnapped.
“STOP FINDING THIS WOMAN OR ELSE I’LL KILL HER IF U KEEP ON CHAT AND CALLING I WILL KILL HER,” a post read on the victim’s Facebook account.
But on the same day, the college student was reported to have been found in Barangay Jubay in Liloan, Cebu, 15 hours after she was reported missing. Barangay Jubay Councilor Avil; Goc-ong said that the student reported to have escaped the kidnappers at past 8 p.m. It was also reported that the victim had bruises on her body when she was found.
However, Police Chief Inspector Jacinto Mandal, the chief of the Carbon Police Station, recently declared that the college student made up the kidnapping story.
According to latest reports published by Cebu News Daily, the student made this up because the collected money she plans to purchase books with was lost, prompting her to disappear.
Police Chief Inspector Mandal further reported that the student has finally reunited with her family after she went to a medical examination, which indicated that she was unhurt.
