Oftentimes, we ignore street children we encounter on our daily commute, for reason that they might be a petty theft or a member of a street gang or something similar. Nowadays, one cannot be too careful. But what if you encountered a lost child on your way to work or somewhere else?
What would you do?
This is what netizen Cyrel Delfin Lago encountered on his way to work. According to his Facebook post, he was on his way to the office to attend his graveyard shift (from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.) when he chanced upon a boy by himself.
A rough translation of Lago’s post stated that the boy did not want to go home. The boy claimed that his grandfather and uncle would only physically hurt him. He also claimed that his own parents have separated from each other.
According to his narration to Lago, his mother is in Kuwait while his father is in Butuan.
Lago said that when he clocked out of work, he was surprised to see that the boy was still in the same spot he has seen before. Apparently, the boy did not move at all.
Lago narrated that he felt sympathetic towards the boy, hence his decision to give him coffee and some bread. By that time, Lago said that it was already 2:00 a.m.
He shared his encounter with the lost child on social media with the hopes of finding the boy’s relatives and family. The boy also scrawled his own name on a paper.
According to him, he is Rolando Q. Pizzaras, Jr.
It was presumed that Lago made the lost child write his name so that he could easily be identified by everyone. He also took a video of the boy as he asked him questions.
